Hartmut DÖHNER – Professor of Medicine

As part of the celebrations of its 50 years of research and medical innovation, the Cancer Research Centre of Marseille and its research department in Onco-Hematology and Immuno-Oncology (OHIO), in collaboration with the Paoli-Calmettes Institute, welcomed Prof. Hartmut Döhner, an international specialist in leukemia, on November 17.

Hartmut Döhner, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Department of Internal Medicine III at the University Hospital Ulm (Germany) and founder and former Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Ulm (CCCU), gave a presentation on the major perspectives in the treatment of AML (acute myeloid leukaemia), of which he is an international expert. Very few therapeutic developments have taken place in recent decades, so these treatments represent a real revolution for AML patients. His work has paved the way for predictive and personalised medicine in the field of onco-hematology and has led to a new classification of these diseases that is now used worldwide.
